10,000 Steps A Day: Week 13

I realised today that it's week 13 which is an over achievement on my original goal of 12 weeks. I actually completely forgot about achieving my goal in last weeks post. I know after I started it changed to a year but just completing the original goal was pretty nice. The past week has been pretty simple, besides my toe hurting at the start of the week, nothing really unusual. Diet is again a problem, I've been looking into cooking freezer meals and trying to plan out and prepare so that way I minimize the possibility of eating so much crappy food. The first meal I've got planned is meatballs! Not particularly healthy but it's home cooked with plenty of vegetables added in and not nearly as many meatballs as I'd usually have. I'm hoping to dish this out into plastic contains which I'll then freeze. I'm not entirely sure about the reheating process as I haven't actually done it yet, but I think if I just defrost a container overnight, then use the n

10,000 Steps A Day: Week 12

My foot or more specifically my toe is in a great deal of pain. I'm not really sure why but two days ago I basically started getting severe pain in my left big toe when I walked with shoes on. It got to the point where I basically had to limp. This is hampering my walking ability obviously and I can only really wear shoes for short durations. I'm still managing to do my steps by either pacing around inside or going for short walks. Something else which is new is the fitness app! It's been updated and it's looking pretty nice, although its a little harder to navigate but that's probably just because it's new. It also doesn't show a single screen for the steps like it used to. It looks a little messy to take screen shots but I'll make do. The app now basically sets a new goal which is activity. This seems to be just the amount of time you're up and walking. This is actually a very useful tool if you're looking at doing just that, being more acti

10,000 Steps A Day: Week 11

Making it to week 11 is pretty cool. I didn't think I'd last this long and now that I really don't even have to think about it and still end up doing the steps, I think I'll make it to a year. The real question is what do I do after that year? I have in my head that this is keeping me in check, forcing me to be active. If I stop I think I'll go straight back to the way I was before. I guess we'll see when the time comes. This week has been okay, I haven't been working so I've had plenty of time to go for my walks and do other stuff about the house like decorating. My diet is still pretty terrible but I think slowly I'm improving it. I'm still eating more than I should but I'm adding in more fruit and veg where possible. I've been drinking Cider a little more than usual because its getting hotter. Usually I'd drink once a week when I played D&D but recently its been 2 nights. I don't think this is a big deal as I only really

10,000 Steps A Day: Week 10

Another week of working and I've still managed to keep my steps up. I purposely find times or excuses to get in those extra steps. I'd volunteer to travel to the other floors of the office for example or walk the longer way to work. I think this is nice because I'm kinda realising that I'm working my regular life around the activity rather than making excuses. I've noticed the speed of which I achieve my steps affects the amount of calories burnt which makes sense. The faster I walk the more I burn. Another rather silly problem I'm having these days is the heat. It's quickly becoming summer which means I can't just put my big coat on and just not care, I have to wear less which makes me a little self concious. Walking long distances and being comfortable whilst doing it is pretty important. Hopefully over time I'll gain a little more confidence to the point where this doesn't affect me that much. It's amazing how trivial these problems are.
