10,000 Steps A Day: Week 17

Another pretty uneventful week besides the stress of starting a new job. I've been eating more than usual because of this and I'm pretty sure I've gained some weight over the past 2 weeks. I don't cope with change very well and it's been tough. I've managed to keep up the steps but it is getting harder and harder. An example of this is on the weekends I work 9-5. This is just brutal for using up the whole weekend and the last thing I want to do is get some exercise with the last few hours I have remaining. If I can't get a lift home then it's tough and I'll do them just walking home but when I have a lift available, it just seems silly to pass on it to then get home earlier and go out and do an hours walk regardless. I'm not even 2 weeks into my work shift and I can see this being a problem, I actually care more about this than I do the job though so I actually think I'm going to ask for less hours at work. Cut it down from 5 days a week

10,000 Steps A Day: Week 16

I have a job, a part time job, but still a job. That shouldn't hinder my walking as much as it is actually. The problem is I'm working 5-10 in the evening for a bunch of shifts. On the weekend I'm doing 9-5 which isn't great either but I can still get my steps done after.  I'm pretty much killing two birds with one stone by working. It's an office job so I'm not doing the steps like I would a manual labour job but I am getting them done with the walk home. Where I work is a solid 4+ miles away so right now I'm getting a lift there and then walking back. It takes me about an hour to get home so I have 1 hour left that day which is why there was no blog post for yesterday and why I'm doing it today before I have work at 5.  I'm proud of myself this week though because I managed to break my step record pretty significantly. If you look at the 13th on the picture below you will see just how many I did. I ended up doing my usual walk and then my f

10,000 Steps A Day: Week 15

It was a very boring week, you can skip this post if you'd like, nothing interesting or new. Well... I went to the top of Noel Hill in Heywood which isn't particularly difficult. The past week has been pretty bad for fast food. I've successfully managed to stop getting fast food for myself but when other people are involved and they're getting it anyway, I can't help myself. Although I one time last week I did get invited to my friends house. These guys are stoner's so if we're there for a few hours, you can guarantee we're ordering food. I made a suggestion to bring lasagne with me and we could have that, which went down well.  These social situations are constantly cropping up and trying to avoid fast food is actually making me hate it a lot, which is a good thing. It makes me realise how unhealthy myself and just everyone in my town is when you look at my towns city centre. There's literally nothing but cheap/low cost fast food places.  The be

10,000 Steps A Day: Week 14

Tried some new things this week, I played badminton which isn't so new but I certainly haven't played in a while. It was really good fun and great exercise, I really felt it the day after. Something completely new is that I walked a completely new route to finish my steps. Its an area of town that I don't normally go to as I have no reason usually but it thought why not, and just started walking.  Nothing crazy happened, there were more children around than my usual route which wasn't great, and this was more of a residential area than an industrial one which again isn't great. One of the things I love most about it walking is just getting away from people and having time to think.  I remember when I first started walking I listened to audio books, it seemed great at first but then I listened to something a little boring for my liking and decided to stop. I don't even listen to music, I just think and daydream about things. A dilemma I faced this week
